A homeowner in Hillsborough, Northern Ireland, following their regular annual de-sludge were alerted by NI Water to a problem with their existing septic tank. How Viltra found a solution by providing a site survey, site investigation and installing a new sewage treatment plant and associated civil works.
Client Overview
Viltra were contacted by the client after having their annual de-sludge by NI Water. The client was alerted to a problem with their existing septic tank. The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) would not accept the existing system and recommended a sewage treatment plant should be installed at the property.
Challenges
DAERA would not accept the existing septic tank currently installed at the homeowners property due to issues with the system. There was potential that the septic tank in place would cause issues with the client’s property if left unresolved, for example bad smells and blockages around the outside of the house.
Our Solution
Viltra took control of the complete project from start to finish, initially carrying out a site survey and investigation into possible issues that could have caused the problem with the existing septic tank. The client forwarded the report carried out by Viltra to their insurance company, to their delight, the company agreed to cover the cost of the installation of the sewage treatment plant and associated site works. Viltra were appointed as the lead contractor.
Viltra began the work at the property by installing a IWOX Premium sewage treatment plant as well as separating storm and foul drains to bring them up to standard and to align with the new sewage treatment plant. Once the new system was installed at the property, it was commissioned and set operational. Following the successful installation and civil works, a service and maintenance package was setup with the client to ensure an annual service and inspection was carried out to sustain the performance of the brand-new sewage treatment plant.
The client now has a fully compliant sewage treatment plant installed on their property which replaces an old septic tank which could have caused issues in the future at the property. The installation of the sewage treatment plant also gives the homeowner peace of mind that they are protecting their local environment on their doorstep.
The project was delivered within the homeowners budget and on schedule, with the client voicing their satisfaction at the outcome of the civil works and how tidy Viltra had left the property after the work had been carried out.
